Streets as shared space
A long-term, ongoing collaboration that explores how the streets and shared spaces of Auckland Park and Brixton, in particular, can evolve into platforms for civic engagement, care, and collective agency. Over the past 16 years, Mark has worked alongside residents to deliver a range of public space activations—from small-scale events and exhibitions to street art interventions and the larger Brixton Light Festival. Each initiative aims to strengthen community connections and encourage a deeper engagement with public life. Through ongoing Open Streets initiatives, projects challenge the idea of streets as purely functional corridors, revealing their potential as vibrant spaces for people, creativity, and shared urban experience.
