This renovation for the School of Geography, Archaeology and Environmental Studies transforms a basement laboratory within the Solomon Mahlangu building at the University of the Witwatersrand. Working within restricted ceiling heights, services were left exposed to maximise volume and create a clear, honest interior language. The incorporation of sun shelves served a dual purpose: they seamlessly blended with the building's original design while directing natural light further into the laboratory.
